Year Of The Art is owned and operated by Christina Marie Morris Ross, an accomplished artist with the passion to design exemplary art, to educate and inspire, and to create spaces that foster innovation for those who enter. Christina's work is on the walls at Google; walls, dinner tables, and in bathrooms of homes around the globe; and on desks and workstations of professionals throughout the world.
Christina grew up in the very diverse County of Alameda in the East Bay of California. She was raised with the culture of New Mexico, appreciating the first nations of this land. Her experience growing up around so many different identities shaped her into an inquisitive person traveling, living, and volunteering abroad. She believes knowing that we are all a part of this world as a living community we are all responsible for the existence of each other, the planet, and all of its inhabitants. Much of her work is created through extensive research about her subjects, to honor the origin of the inspiration.
All of Christina's work is handmade. The ceramics are fired twice, with the final firing above 2000 degrees F to lock in glazes and strengthen the clay body making the pieces highly durable and dishwasher, microwave, and food safe (unless otherwise specified). Her bronze sculptures and jewelry pieces are all designed, built, molded, and finished by Christina.
