I believe in providing students with multiple opportunities to engage in learning to become purposeful and motivated. I present content and curriculum in multiple ways for students to become resourceful and knowledgable. I provide multiple ways for students to express their acquisition of skills and knowledge to master time management, being strategic, and goal-directed. I believe mastering time management, collaboration, and creative problem solving will assist every student in being successful in all of their courses. I expose students to a variety of mediums, techniques, and skills in order for them to discover their interests and build toward mastery. I connect each to careers utilizing art, informing students art is everywhere and success can be achieved by following their interest. I possess a similar philosophy to Jaime Casap, former Chief Educational Evangelist at Google, Inc. He broadcasts a message I have been providing my students for years: “What problem do you want to solve? How do you want to solve it using your gifts? What knowledge and skills do you need to acquire to solve this problem?” Casap explains that education will make someone a better person, smarter, and can help students get out of poverty. I enjoy guiding my Artists in developing their knowledge economy to identify a problem in the world, acquire the skills necessary to solve it, prepare for success after high school, and demonstrate all of this through practice, experimentation, and revision of their chosen topic in their portfolios.
